NECO Questions Were Sold For N3,000 Before Exams, Minister Says

Education Minister Tunji Alausa says NECO question papers were allegedly sold for N3,000 before candidates sat for the exams.

Alausa made the disclosure at a meeting with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and other education stakeholders, where he warned parents, teachers, school owners, principals, invigilators and students against examination malpractice.

He said leaked examination materials create an unfair system for students who prepare honestly and can push other students into cheating because they feel they are competing against candidates with advance access to questions.

The minister described the level of malpractice as alarming and said the government wants public examinations to reflect genuine learning rather than leaked papers or organised cheating.
