Boko Haram Fighter Surrenders With RPG And Bomb In Borno

A Boko Haram fighter has surrendered to troops of Operation Hadin Kai in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, according to the theatre command.

The military said the man surrendered on Wednesday morning with a rocket-propelled grenade launcher, one RPG bomb and a mobile phone.

Captain Mohammed Goni, Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-East, said the surrendered fighter had operated around the Mandara Mountains axis, an area linked with insurgent movement near the Nigeria-Cameroon border.

The command said the suspect was undergoing preliminary investigation and profiling after giving himself up.

Goni said the surrender showed the pressure being placed on insurgent groups in the North-East. The military also said it would keep pushing armed groups out of areas where they still try to move freely.
