JAMB, WAEC Set One-Off N4,000 Fee For WASSCE Result Verification

Candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions will now pay N4,000 only once to verify their WAEC O’Level results through JAMB.

The change means candidates whose admissions are handled by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will not have to pay separate verification charges to different institutions after their West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results are checked.

Punch reported that JAMB and the West African Examinations Council announced the arrangement in a joint statement issued on Tuesday after consultations on the remote O’Level result upload and verification system.

Under the arrangement, a candidate verifies a WAEC result once through JAMB. The verification outcome is then made available to the institution where the candidate is seeking admission.

The examination bodies said the fee covers the result owner, the examination body and the institution seeking confirmation of the result. They also said the system was meant to reduce repeated charges and make the process clearer for candidates and schools.
