Troops Kill 152 Boko Haram, ISWAP Fighters In August, Reports Say

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai killed 152 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in the North-East between August 1 and 31, according to figures reported by Daily Post and Vanguard.

The reports said 142 other suspects, including alleged logistics suppliers, were arrested during the same period, while 219 fighters surrendered to troops.

Daily Post attributed the figures to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who posted the monthly operational summary on Tuesday. Vanguard’s RSS summary carried the same main figures and said Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum hailed the troops.

The reported operations included 10 air interdictions in support of ground operations, nine neutralised improvised explosive devices, and the recovery of 58 weapons and explosive items.

The summary also said troops recovered 1,184 rounds of ammunition and 16 mobility assets, including motorcycles, bicycles, tricycles and other vehicles said to be linked to terrorist activity.

The figures are attributed to the operational summary cited in the reports and should be read as official-side battlefield figures, not independent ground verification.
