Police Kill Two Suspected Kidnappers, Rescue Truck Driver In Ogun
Police in Ogun State say two suspected kidnappers were killed and an abducted truck driver was rescued during an operation along the Papalanto-Ilaro Road in Yewa South Local Government Area.
The command said its Anti-Kidnapping Unit acted on intelligence after the driver was abducted around 11:10 p.m. on August 25 in the Ajibawo area of Ibese. Officers later moved in on the suspects and recovered the victim alive.
Police also reported the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, 25 rounds of live ammunition, two mobile phones and N2 million suspected to be proceeds of crime. The Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Oluborode Opeyemi, said the operation was part of the command’s push against kidnapping and violent crime in the state.
The reports did not name the rescued driver. Police said further investigation was continuing after the rescue and recovery of the weapons and cash.
