Police Rescue 2-Year-Old Boy, Arrest Suspects In Plateau Kidnap Plot
Police have rescued a two-year-old boy in Plateau State after uncovering what they described as a staged kidnapping involving his mother and two other suspects.
The child, identified in reports as Rito Jesse Davou, was allegedly taken from the Rantiya area of Jos South Local Government Area as part of a plan to demand ransom from his grandmother.
The police said Nansik Wuyep Sule, 34, allegedly worked with the boy’s mother, Catherine Davou, and another suspect, Luka Emmanuel Butdam. Investigators said the child was kept at Sule’s residence while ransom calls were made to the grandmother.
The demand was first put at N7 million and later raised to N15 million, according to the police account reported by Daily Post and Premium Times.
Force spokesperson Ani Iniedu said operatives of the Intelligence Response Team later located the child, took him for medical attention and returned him to his father.
Police said the investigation was still open as officers looked for any other people connected to the alleged plot.
