Mutfwang Says Plateau Communities Will Not Lose Land After Bin Mper Killings

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has told residents of Bin Mper in Mangu Local Government Area that the state will not allow attackers to take over their ancestral land.

The assurance followed the deadly August 18 attack on the community in Kombun District. Mutfwang visited the area on Thursday to meet victims’ families and residents still worried about further violence.

Premium Times reported that Mutfwang told the residents they would not be displaced from their land. Vanguard reported that he described the attack as a direct affront and said the government would do everything within its powers to protect the community.

The governor also condoled with families who lost relatives and wished injured residents a quick recovery. The renewed assurance keeps attention on land, displacement and security fears after the Bin Mper killings.
