Bandits Abduct 14 Enugu-Abuja Passengers In Benue, Police Rescue Five
Fourteen passengers travelling from Enugu State to Abuja were abducted in Benue State after gunmen ambushed their commercial bus on the Ankpechi-Omutele axis of Ohimini Local Government Area.
Police said five victims, including a four-year-old boy, had been rescued after a gun battle with the kidnappers, while nine others remained in captivity.
The attack happened on Thursday night. The bus was travelling along the Otukpo-Adoka route when the passengers were forced into nearby bushland.
Benue police spokesperson Peter Aondongu said one rescued victim sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to a medical facility in Otukpo for treatment.
The command said officers and other security agencies were continuing the rescue operation, while Commissioner of Police Cletus Nwadiogbu urged residents to provide credible information that could help locate the remaining victims.
