US Condemns Kaduna Attack, Urges Nigeria To Tackle Middle Belt Violence

The United States has condemned the Kaduna village attack that Nigerian reports said killed at least 30 people, including children, and urged the Federal Government to confront violence in the Middle Belt.

The statement is a fresh official response to the Naridon village attack previously reported by NaijaTrend here, and to President Bola Tinubu’s later directive for security agencies to hunt the attackers here.

The US State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs said on X that Washington condemned the early morning July 27 attack on a village in Kaduna State and offered condolences to families of the victims. Punch noted that local accounts placed the attack late on Sunday night, while the US statement described it as early morning.

The bureau said the United States would continue to urge Nigeria to address violence against Christians in the Middle Belt. Vanguard and Daily Post reported the same central message from the US statement.

Vanguard also reported that US Representative Riley Moore linked the Kaduna violence to wider concern about insecurity in the region and urged President Tinubu to do more, including securing the safe return of abducted seminarian Kelvin Ochai. The church later said Ochai had escaped and returned safely.

The latest response adds international pressure to a security crisis that has already drawn local condemnation, relief pledges and calls for stronger protection of vulnerable communities in Kaduna and neighbouring states.
