Nigerian Army Named Africa’s Best In Counter-Terrorism Operations
The Nigerian Army has been named Africa’s Best National Army in Counter-Terrorism Operations for 2025 by African Security Watch.
The award was presented on Wednesday at Army Headquarters in Abuja to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, according to a Punch report based on a post by Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele.
Punch reported that Major General Teriworie Gagariga presented the award after earlier receiving it on behalf of the Army at the African Security Watch Awards Ceremony in Banjul, The Gambia.
African Security Watch said the recognition was based on the Army’s work in joint operations, intelligence-led campaigns, civil-military cooperation, force development and capacity building.
Shaibu described the award as a tribute to the courage, professionalism and sacrifices of Army personnel working to protect the country. He said it reflected the work of officers and soldiers confronting security threats across Nigeria.
