FG Approves N46bn For Kano Airport Runway Rehabilitation

President Bola Tinubu has approved N46 billion for the resurfacing and reconstruction of the second runway at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo announced the approval during the commissioning of the remodeled Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal in Kano. The project is part of fresh federal work on one of northern Nigeria’s busiest airport facilities.

Channels TV reported that Keyamo described the runway work as a major upgrade for the airport, while Premium Times said the Federal Government approved N46 billion specifically for the runway rehabilitation.

The minister said Kano Airport had been marked for upgrades because of its importance to aviation, trade and passenger movement in the region. He also linked the work to wider federal investment in airport infrastructure.

The approval comes as the government tries to improve facilities at major airports and ease operational pressure on domestic and international aviation routes.
