NSCDC Uncovers Fake University In Lagos Apartment, Rescues 106 Youths
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has uncovered a suspected fake university operating from a three-bedroom apartment in Ilado, Olorunda LCDA of Lagos State, and rescued 106 youths.
The Badagry Area Command of the NSCDC said the victims were allegedly lured into the scheme, which operated under the name Unique Open University.
Daily Post and Vanguard reported that the corps arrested one suspect, while another person linked to the operation was said to be at large.
The NSCDC said the apartment was being used to run the illegal institution and that the rescued youths were promised foreign-linked university admission and training.
The corps said investigations were ongoing and warned parents and young people to verify institutions before paying fees or enrolling in programmes.
