NAFDAC Blacklists Onifam Laboratories, Directors Over Regulatory Violations
NAFDAC has blacklisted Onifam Laboratories Limited, its managing director, board members and affiliated persons over alleged regulatory violations.
The sanction takes immediate effect and bars the company and affected individuals from taking part directly or indirectly in pharmaceutical activities regulated by the agency.
The agency said its investigation found multiple breaches in the company’s handling of pharmaceutical regulation. Vanguard reported that the alleged infractions included regulatory misrepresentation, misuse of NAFDAC approvals and certificates, improper registration and transfer of pharmaceutical products, and attempts to bypass established processes.
Punch reported that NAFDAC Director-General Mojisola Adeyeye signed the statement announcing the action. The agency said the affected company and persons cannot obtain approvals or operate in regulated capacities within the pharmaceutical industry while the sanction stands.
NAFDAC said the alleged breaches weakened product traceability, accountability and post-market surveillance. The regulator also warned stakeholders against doing pharmaceutical business with blacklisted entities.
