EFCC Denies Secret Recruitment Claims, Warns Nigerians Over Viral Post

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has denied claims that it is secretly recruiting staff, warning Nigerians to ignore a viral social media post making the allegation.

Punch and Vanguard reported the denial on Monday. The commission described the viral claim as false and urged members of the public not to be deceived by messages suggesting that recruitment was ongoing outside official channels.

The EFCC said the information did not come from the agency and should not be treated as a genuine recruitment notice. It warned that fraudsters often use fake recruitment messages to collect money or personal details from job seekers.

The denial comes at a time when public institutions regularly face impersonation attempts online. Recruitment scams can spread quickly because applicants often share vacancy links across WhatsApp, Facebook and other platforms before checking official sources.

The commission advised Nigerians to rely on its verified communication channels for employment information. No fee or private contact should be treated as proof of an EFCC job offer.

The warning is also relevant to job seekers who may be asked to pay for forms, screening slots or private recommendations. The EFCC’s position is that any genuine recruitment notice must come through official public channels.
