Badejo-Okusanya Elected 33rd NBA President After Final Vote Count

Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, has been elected the 33rd President of the Nigerian Bar Association after the final results of the 2026 national officers election were announced.

The result moves the NBA race beyond the early tally earlier reported here, with the Electoral Committee declaring Badejo-Okusanya winner on Sunday.

Electoral Committee Chairman Aham Ejelam, SAN, said Badejo-Okusanya polled 12,317 votes, or 47.18 percent, to defeat Lateef Akangbe, SAN, who got 7,934 votes, and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who got 5,855 votes.

The presidential election recorded 26,106 ballots. Premium Times reported that 26,184 voters took part across all 13 national offices, representing 31.86 percent of 82,172 registered voters.

Badejo-Okusanya will serve a two-year term from 2026 to 2028. She becomes the second woman to lead the NBA after Priscilla Kuye, who served from 1991 to 1992.

Other elected officers include Oghenero Okoro as First Vice-President and Afam Okeke as General Secretary.
