Troops Bust Suspected Kidnap Syndicate, Recover Cash And Vehicle In Imo

Troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade under Operation Udoka have disrupted a suspected kidnapping syndicate in Imo State, according to the Nigerian Army.

The army said the intelligence-led operation was carried out on July 17 in collaboration with other security agencies.

The operation led to the arrest of a suspect, the recovery of cash suspected to be part of a ransom payment and the seizure of a vehicle allegedly used by the group.

The Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the brigade, Joseph Akubo, said the operation was part of efforts to break kidnapping networks in the state.

The army said further investigation would continue after the arrest and recovery of the suspected exhibits.

The operation comes amid continuing security concerns in parts of the South-East, where security agencies have reported raids on armed groups and criminal networks.
