Super Falcons players celebrate with the WAFCON trophy

Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has named a 25-player squad for Nigeria’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title defence in Morocco.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and forward Asisat Oshoala are among the headline names in the list released for the tournament, which is scheduled for July 26 to August 16.

The squad also includes Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie, Christy Ucheibe, Jennifer Echegini, Toni Payne, Esther Okoronkwo, Francisca Ordega and home-based goalkeeper Fatima Oloko of Abia Angels.

Channels TV reported that defender Ashley Plumptre was left out of the final list. Premium Times listed the full squad and said Nigeria will face Egypt, Zambia and debutants Malawi in Group C, with the group matches to be played in Rabat.

The 2026 edition will feature 16 teams. The four semi-finalists will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, while the fifth-placed team will enter an intercontinental playoff.

Nigeria won the last WAFCON title after beating hosts Morocco 3-2 in the final. The Falcons are chasing an 11th continental title.
