Masquerade Kills 24-Year-Old In Oyo, Suspect Arrested
Police in Oyo State have arrested a masquerader after the alleged killing of a 24-year-old man during a procession in Ibadan.
The victim, identified as Sefiu Kehinde, was reportedly attacked in the Labiran area of the city on Sunday. Police said one suspect, the Asoleke masquerader, had been arrested while four alleged accomplices were still at large.
The case was reported at the Mapo Divisional Police Headquarters by a woman identified as Mrs Aderemi after she received a distress call about the attack.
Premium Times, citing the police statement, reported that the victim was allegedly attacked with axes and cutlasses by the masquerader and some followers during the procession.
Police officers took Kehinde to hospital after the report, but he was confirmed dead on arrival. The command said officers processed the crime scene and documented evidence.
Oyo police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka said the command had opened an investigation and was working to arrest the remaining suspects.
