Ex-Benue SSG David Salifu Dies After Gun Attack On Wukari-Makurdi Road
Former Secretary to the Benue State Government David Salifu has died after gunshot injuries from an attack on the Wukari-Makurdi road.
Salifu served as SSG during the administration of former governor Gabriel Suswam and was also a lecturer at the Federal University, Wukari. The Punch reported that he was travelling from Wukari to Makurdi on Thursday when armed men stopped his vehicle.
David Olofu, a close associate of the deceased and the African Democratic Congress Benue South senatorial candidate, confirmed that Salifu died in the early hours of Friday at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi.
Olofu said Salifu was first taken to the teaching hospital in Wukari after the shooting before arrangements were made to move him for further care. The exact reason he ended up in Makurdi instead of Abuja was not immediately clear.
Efforts by The Punch to get a reaction from the Taraba State Police Command were unsuccessful at the time of its report.
