OPC, Agbekoya, South-West Security Groups Demand Action On Oyo Abductions

A coalition of South-West security groups has urged the Federal Government and Oyo State Government to intensify efforts to free abducted residents and schoolchildren in Oyo communities.

The South-West Security Stakeholders Group said the unresolved abductions in Igbope, Oorelope Local Government Area, and around Ogbomoso had deepened fear across affected communities.

Vanguard and Punch reported that the coalition includes the OPC, Agbekoya groups, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Professional Hunters Association of Nigeria and other community-security organisations.

The group cited the June 16 abduction of Kuburat Omowumi and her son in Igbope, as well as the May 15 abduction of pupils and teachers from schools in the Ogbomoso area.

It asked government and security agencies to deploy adequate resources, improve coordination and ensure the safe return of all victims.
