The Federal Government set aside about ₦500bn from May 2026 Federation Account Allocation Committee revenue for security-related intervention, according to reports that cited officials familiar with the FAAC proceedings and allocation documents.

Punch, Economic Confidential and News Digest reported that the deduction was made before the monthly revenue-sharing exercise among the Federal Government, states and local government councils. The reports said one source described it as a national security emergency fund.

The reports also cited FAAC documents showing ₦250bn for a Military Intervention Fund and ₦252bn as an Infrastructure Development Fund to states. News Digest further reported that the documents listed a ₦450bn transfer to the Non-Oil Excess Revenue Account, bringing the major deductions it described to ₦952bn.

Because the claim involves a large public-finance figure, NaijaTrend is attributing it to the reports and the FAAC documents they described, rather than presenting it as a separate government announcement.

The development comes amid sustained concerns over bandit attacks and wider pressure on federal and state governments to fund security operations while balancing revenue allocations to the three tiers of government.
