Bauchi PDP Candidate Vows to Block Bala Mohammed’s Successor Plan
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Adamu Usman Ahmed, has vowed to stop Governor Bala Mohammed from installing a successor in the 2027 election.
Daily Trust reported that Ahmed, while addressing journalists in Abuja, said the opposition was set to coast to victory in Bauchi. He argued that the people of Bauchi had a history of making independent political choices and were unlikely to support any attempt to impose a new governor.
“The people of Bauchi are always wise. Looking at the history of the state, no governor has successfully installed a successor. That is why I believe the opposition has a strong chance of winning,” he said.
Governor Bala Mohammed, who previously chaired the PDP Governors’ Forum, recently left the PDP for the Allied Peoples Movement, APM, after internal divisions emerged in the party. Ahmed said the political environment ahead of the 2027 election was different from previous contests because more parties were contesting, giving the opposition an added advantage.
Daily Post also reported the comments, noting that the PDP candidate pledged to focus on reducing unemployment if elected, with job creation positioned as the top priority of his proposed administration.
