Barcelona Ready to Offer €100 Million for Victor Osimhen as Yamal Pushes for Transfer
Barcelona are preparing a mega bid for Victor Osimhen, with reports suggesting the Catalan giants are willing to offer up to €100 million to secure the Super Eagles striker ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The push is coming from an unlikely source: 18-year-old Lamine Yamal has reportedly urged the club’s hierarchy to prioritise signing Osimhen, seeing him as the ideal attacking partner and a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires in June 2026. Spanish outlet Fichajes first reported Yamal’s push, and the story has since been picked up by Nigerian and international media.
Osimhen has been in strong form at Galatasaray, where he moved on loan from Napoli. But the Turkish side’s dependence on him has been laid bare. Head coach Okan Buruk confirmed that Galatasaray struggled without their star striker after being held to a 1-1 draw by Kocaelispor at RAMS Park on Sunday. Galatasaray’s medical staff are working to get Osimhen fit for the potentially title-deciding Istanbul derby against Fenerbahce on April 26.
The €100 million price tag would make Osimhen one of the most expensive African transfers ever. Barcelona are reportedly considering five player exits to finance the deal, and must also comply with strict La Liga financial rules for any signing above €100 million, according to Legit.ng.
Galatasaray themselves have been linked with a permanent bid, though Osimhen’s preference for a move to one of Europe’s elite leagues could tip the scales in Barcelona’s favour. Galatasaray reportedly value him at over €100 million, possibly as high as €150 million, according to Blueprint Newspapers.
Competition for Osimhen’s signature is intense, with Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Chelsea all monitoring his situation, according to The Nation and BusinessDay.
