Nigeria’s Super Eagles defeated Jamaica 3-0 in the Unity Cup final at The Valley Stadium in London on Saturday night to retain the trophy for the fourth consecutive time.

Yusuf Bags Brace as Super Eagles Dominate

Alhassan Yusuf scored two goals and Terem Moffi added another as the Super Eagles outclassed the Reggae Boyz in a commanding performance. The victory confirms Nigeria as 2026 Unity Cup winners without needing the penalty shootout that decided last year’s final.

Nigeria went ahead on just three minutes through Alhassan Yusuf, who capitalized on errors from the Jamaican defender and goalkeeper. He was on hand to provide an emphatic finish after the goalkeeper pushed out the initial effort.

The World Cup-bound Caribbean nation went two goals behind on 58 minutes when captain Terem Moffi nodded home Femi Azeez’s cross to seal the well-deserved win. Then in the first minute of added time, Yusuf added his second as he ran onto a laid pass by Philip Otele and curled it beyond the reach of the Jamaican keeper.

Unbeaten Run Continues

The Super Eagles remain unbeaten in the Unity Cup tournament. To reach the final, they overcame Zimbabwe 2-0 thanks to a brace from Femi Azeez, with both assists coming from Moffi.

Nigeria continued their dominance over Jamaica, as the AFCON 2025 bronze medal winners made it six meetings without defeat, winning three of the encounters in regular time.

Yusuf’s two goals are his first for Nigeria in 10 national team appearances, marking a breakthrough performance on the international stage.

The victory solidifies Nigeria’s position as the dominant force in the close-season international tournament, with the squad showing depth and quality across the board.
