FG Launches GovGuideNigeria, AI Platform That Answers Citizens in English, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba
WhatsApp Bot Speaks Four Nigerian Languages
The federal government has launched an AI-powered platform called GovGuideNigeria that lets Nigerians access information from over 35 federal ministries and more than 60 government agencies. The platform works on WhatsApp and web, and it speaks English, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba.
Communications Minister Bosun Tijani announced the launch on Thursday. The idea is simple but powerful: make government information actually accessible to ordinary Nigerians, including people in rural communities who might not read English comfortably.
“GovGuide provides citizens with easy access to information, helping to bridge language and information gaps while improving public service delivery,” Tijani said. He said the project shows how AI can serve people who are often left behind by digital initiatives, particularly those in underserved and low-literacy communities.
The platform was built through a collaboration between NCAIR Nigeria, Meta, and PublicaaiMedia. Tijani said it “demonstrates what is possible when the government, the private sector, and local innovators work together to solve real challenges.”
Nigerians can message GovGuide on WhatsApp or visit the web portal to ask about government services, policies, and what different agencies actually do, in whatever language they prefer.
