NAF Airstrikes Destroy Terrorist Logistics Hub in Katsina Forest
The Nigerian Air Force hit a terrorist logistics hub in Katsina State on May 1, killing several fighters and setting off explosions that tore through the enclave.
The strike was carried out under the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, targeting a location inside the Dan-Aji Forest in Faskari Local Government Area. NAF Director of Public Relations Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame said the hub was linked to militant kingpin Abasu Aiki, whose fighters have been raiding communities across the Faskari, Kankara, and Funtua axis.
NAF aircraft spotted armed terrorists on motorcycles within the enclave before the strike was executed. Battle damage assessment showed several fighters dead, the logistics structures destroyed, and fires burning through the site, further wrecking the group’s ability to operate.
The Katsina attack is part of a broader aerial campaign against bandit and terrorist networks in the northwest. The region’s dense forest cover along the Katsina-Zamfara border has given criminal groups a relatively safe base to plan and launch attacks — a problem the military has been working to close off through a combination of airstrikes and ground operations.
Security forces say operations in the northwest have intensified in recent months, with several hideouts destroyed and supply lines disrupted across multiple states.
