Police say one suspected robber was killed during an operation in Ijaba, Iyesi, Ota, Ogun State, early on Sunday, with two vehicles and suspected stolen goods recovered.
Ogun State Police Command spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi said in a Sunday statement that officers from Onipanu division responded to a resident’s distress call at about 1.45am.
The vehicles, a Nissan Almera and Toyota Camry, were taken into police custody. Investigators are checking who owns them and other items found at the scene, the command said.
Babaseyi said members of the suspected gang fired at the approaching patrol team and that officers returned fire. Police said the others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.
A Tecno phone, passport photographs, a SIM pack, two National Identification Number cards and cash were also recovered, according to the statement.
The command said it was pursuing the remaining suspects and investigating whether the vehicles and other exhibits were connected to other offences.
