Two people investigated for suspected Ebola disease in Yola, Adamawa State, have tested negative after two rounds of laboratory testing, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) says.
In a statement dated Saturday, NCDC Director-General Jide Idris said the agency was working with the state government to investigate the cases.
The agency said there was no laboratory-confirmed Ebola case in Adamawa. The infection previously confirmed in the Federal Capital Territory remained the only confirmed case reported in Nigeria.
Adamawa’s public health emergency operations centre received the report on Friday after two people developed symptoms suggestive of Ebola. They were isolated and samples were collected to establish the cause of their illness.
The results follow the agency’s earlier announcement that two suspected cases had been isolated in the north-east, when testing was still under way.
NCDC advised anyone with symptoms, particularly after possible exposure, to seek immediate medical attention and tell health workers about relevant travel or contact history.
The agency said it would continue providing technical support to Adamawa’s response.
