Ibrahim Kashim, the NDC governorship candidate in Bauchi State, has resigned his membership of the party, effective October 16, 2026.
His resignation letter was addressed to the party chairman in Bauchi Local Government Area, Daily Post reported. Kashim described the decision as a personal choice made after careful consideration.
Channels Television reported that he also addressed supporters in a statement circulated on social media, saying his commitment to Bauchi’s development would continue despite his departure.
He did not identify a new political platform or say whether he would continue his governorship bid under another party, according to Channels Television.
Kashim thanked the party’s leadership and members for the opportunity to be associated with it and asked that its records be updated to reflect his resignation.
He urged supporters to remain calm and united, saying he would communicate the next phase of his political plans in due course.
