The All Progressives Congress has been declared winner of all 21 chairmanship seats and 239 councillorship seats in Kogi State’s local government election, according to the state electoral commission.

The polls were held on Saturday, October 17. Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) chairman Mamman Nda-Eri announced the results after collation at the commission’s headquarters in Lokoja.

Channels Television reported that Nda-Eri declared the APC winner across the state’s 21 local government areas and 239 wards. He described the exercise as peaceful and credible; that assessment was the commission’s account of the polls.

A statement published by the Kogi State Government said Nda-Eri made the announcement on Sunday after receiving and verifying returns submitted by authorised returning officers. It said the names of successful candidates would be published separately.

The outgoing chairmen and councillors were sworn in on October 23, 2024, and are expected to leave office this month at the end of their two-year tenure, according to Channels Television.

Nda-Eri said certificates of return would be issued to the winners in due course.
