Air Peace has blamed recent disruption to its Abuja operations and the cancellation of an Abuja-Maiduguri flight on aviation fuel shortage and weather-related operating limits.

The airline said the first delays at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport were caused by the unavailability of Jet A1 fuel, a problem it said also affected other airlines operating from Abuja.

Air Peace said affected flights resumed after fuel became available, but its Abuja-Maiduguri service could not operate as planned.

The airline said the Maiduguri airport control tower initially granted an extension for the flight to arrive after delays, but later said the airport was under Visual Flight Rules and could no longer operate beyond sunset.

Premium Times reported that Air Peace said passengers were given refreshments and hotel accommodation after the service could not operate within Maiduguri airport’s night operating window.
