JAMB says CAPS outage was caused by hosting glitches

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has confirmed a temporary shutdown of its Central Admissions Processing System, saying the admissions platform was affected by hosting-related technical problems.

The disruption hit during the peak admission period for universities, polytechnics and other tertiary institutions, leaving schools and candidates unable to complete some admission processes through CAPS.

Punch reported that JAMB blamed the outage on hosting issues and said work was underway to restore normal service. Vanguard also reported the shutdown, saying the board had begun emergency restoration efforts.

CAPS is the platform JAMB uses to coordinate admissions, including offers, candidate acceptance and institutional admission processing. A prolonged outage can delay admission decisions for candidates and schools already working under tight academic calendars.

JAMB did not give a firm restoration time in the two accounts, but the board said it was working to bring the service back. Candidates and institutions are expected to continue monitoring official JAMB channels for updates.
