Police Arrest Two Suspects With Guns And Suspected Cocaine In Delta
Delta police have arrested two men after a stop-and-search operation on the Agbarho-Warri Road led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition and a substance suspected to be cocaine.
The suspects were identified as Omini Ezeri, 46, and Chinedum Wagbara, 42, both residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Police said a third occupant, named as Godknows Ifreke, escaped into a nearby swamp.
The operation was carried out on July 25 by officers of the Safer Highway Patrol. The suspects were travelling in a grey Mercedes-Benz ML SUV with registration number AAA 604 JZ when they were stopped.
Police said a search of the vehicle uncovered two locally fabricated Beretta pistols loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, about 200 grams of suspected cocaine, a walkie-talkie, a dagger, a grinder and two phones.
Delta police spokesman SP Bright Edafe said the two suspects are in custody while efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.
Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi commended the patrol team and said the command would continue operations against unlawful firearms possession and drug trafficking in the state.
