Lagos Police Probe Death Of Law School Student At Hostel

Lagos police are investigating the death of 23-year-old Nigerian Law School student Faith Alayande at the institution’s Victoria Island hostel.

Daily Post and Punch both reported that the student was found unresponsive on Friday, August 7, after allegedly falling from the rooftop of a four-storey hostel building.

Lagos police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed the incident and said the matter was reported by the hostel matron. The reports said a hostel mate and a relative had found a note believed to have been written by Alayande before they began searching for her.

Police officers later visited the scene, and the student’s remains were taken to a morgue for preservation. The command said an investigation had begun into the circumstances of the death.

Daily Post also cited security analyst Zagazola Makama as saying the incident was reported at the Victoria Island Police Division after another student found Alayande’s body within the hostel premises.

The reports said the contents and authenticity of the alleged note, as well as the full circumstances of the student’s death, remain under police investigation.
