Four Kogi Bus Kidnap Victims Rescued As Search Continues

Four passengers abducted from a commercial bus along the Okene-Auchi corridor in Kogi State have been rescued, while security teams continue searching for others still missing.

Kogi Commissioner of Police Naziru Bello Kankarofi said joint teams rescued four of the abducted passengers after the bus was attacked near Olleh Community. The reports said the driver was killed and an unspecified number of passengers were taken away.

The police said tactical teams, soldiers, navy personnel, other security agencies and local vigilantes were deployed after the attack. Search operations were extended across the Kogi-Edo boundary and forest routes believed to have been used by the kidnappers.

Channels TV reported that the operation covered areas around the Okene-Ajaokuta axis, including Ebiya Forest and adjoining locations. Police said food items, an army-pattern jungle hat and a National Identity Card were recovered from suspected hideouts.

The command said it would continue bush-combing and intelligence-led patrols until the remaining victims are found and the attackers are arrested.
