Ekiti gives security agencies 100 vehicles ahead of state police take-off
Ekiti State has handed 100 operational vehicles to security agencies to improve patrols, emergency response and mobility across the state.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji presented the vehicles at the Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House Grounds, Ado-Ekiti. The benefiting agencies include the police, the army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the State Security Service and local security networks.
Oyebanji said the vehicles would also support the eventual take-off of the proposed Ekiti State Police outfit. He said the state had earlier provided patrol vehicles, armoured personnel carriers, bulletproof vests, helmets and other security equipment to agencies.
The governor asked security chiefs to respond with more visible patrols, faster reaction to distress calls and better coordination. He also said the state had begun discussions with CIG Motors on a maintenance garage for the vehicles.
