Oriire witness names slain teachers, describes feeding in captivity

A protected witness in the Oriire school abduction trial has given fresh details about the victims’ time in captivity, including the names of two teachers she said were killed during the ordeal.

The testimony follows NaijaTrend’s earlier report on the opening of the trial here. The latest reports focus on cross-examination and additional details from the same protected witness, identified only as AAA.

Channels TV reported that the witness identified the slain teachers as Michael Oyedokun and John Olaleye. She told the court that Oyedokun was killed at Camp A, while Olaleye was killed at another camp.

The witness said she was not present when the teachers were killed and could not identify the specific abductors responsible for their deaths. Daily Post reported that she told the court the victims were traumatised during and after their 56 days in captivity.

Under cross-examination by Bala Dakum, counsel to the five accused persons, the witness said the abductors fed the victims only when it was convenient for them, even though children as young as 18 months were among those held.

She also told the court that security operatives interrogated her after the rescue, both at the DSS office and while she was receiving treatment in hospital. The five defendants remain accused persons before the court.
