Tinubu launches 2026-2030 action plan against child labour

President Bola Tinubu has launched a four-year plan aimed at eliminating child labour in Nigeria and directed government agencies, states and other partners to support its implementation.

The plan covers 2026 to 2030 and was unveiled in Abuja during the National Dialogue on Advancing the Implementation of Nigeria’s National Child Labour Policy and National Action Plan. Tinubu was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume.

The President also launched the 2024 National Child Labour Survey Report. He said child labour affects education, poverty reduction, food security, human capital development and national security.

The administration said it would strengthen labour inspection, child-protection systems and programmes aimed at poverty, unemployment, poor access to quality education and social exclusion.
