Court adjourns suit challenging David Mark-led ADC leadership

A Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned a suit challenging the David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress until September 28.
Punch and Daily Post reported that the case was scheduled for hearing on Monday but could not proceed because Justice Peter Lifu did not sit. The suit was filed by ADC member Nafiu-Bala Gombe.
The case seeks to stop the Mark-led leadership from parading itself as the party’s leadership. It also names senior party figures, including Rauf Aregbesola, in the leadership dispute.
Justice Lifu had earlier fixed the matter for hearing after dismissing applications by the ADC and its national secretary seeking his recusal from the case. With Monday’s sitting unable to go ahead, the pending applications will now wait until the next date.
The adjournment keeps the party’s internal leadership dispute in court as political parties continue positioning ahead of the next election cycle.
