EFCC, FBI Probe Alleged Diversion Of USAID Health Funds In Nigeria
The FBI and EFCC are working together on a probe into alleged misuse of United States-backed health funds in Nigeria, with investigators looking at organisations that handled money tied to USAID-supported programmes.
The case centres on funds released before disruptions to some US health support. The allegations involve possible mismanagement and diversion by groups that implemented health programmes in Nigeria.
Premium Times reported that USAID contributed about $2.8 billion to health care in Nigeria between 2022 and 2024. The same report linked the inquiry to wider concern over services affected after US funding disruptions, including HIV-related support and community testing.
Daily Post said the FBI engagement with the EFCC is meant to strengthen cooperation and help investigators trace financial irregularities connected to organisations that received money under US-backed health programmes.
No finding of guilt has been announced against any named organisation. The reports describe an investigation into alleged diversion and misuse, not a concluded criminal case.
