Navy Arrests Three With 71kg Suspected Cannabis In Kogi

The Nigerian Navy has arrested three people with 71 kilogrammes of substances suspected to be cannabis during a patrol along the River Niger in Kogi State.

Personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship Lugard made the arrest on September 8 under Operation Accord 3. Daily Trust reported that the boat carrying the suspects was intercepted at about 4:30 p.m. after intelligence was received.

The suspects and exhibits were taken to the NNS Lugard jetty before being handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Lokoja for further investigation.

Vanguard, citing the Navy’s Director of Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, also reported that three suspected traffickers were arrested with 71kg of suspected cannabis during a riverine patrol in Kogi.

The NDLEA said it would investigate the source of the suspected drug, trace the supplier and identify the owner of the consignment.
