Sokoto Announces N9m Support, Tougher Security Push After Kebbe Attack

The Sokoto State Government has promised a tougher response to armed groups after the deadly attack in Kebbe Local Government Area, and has announced N9 million in support for affected families.

The new response follows earlier reporting on the Kebbe attack and the wider Sokoto-Kebbi security threat. NaijaTrend reported the first police confirmation here, while a later army security review was reported here.

The state delegation, led by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Prof. Jabir Sani Maihulla, visited the affected communities on Governor Ahmad Aliyu’s directive to meet bereaved families, injured residents and local leaders.

Eight families who lost relatives received N1 million each and five bags of food items. Four injured victims shared another N1 million, with each person receiving N250,000 and three bags each of rice, millet and maize.

Maihulla said the governor would continue providing operational vehicles, logistics and other support to security agencies working in the affected areas.

The Kebbe council chairman, Musa Garba Kuchi, thanked the state government for the intervention and said the support would bring some relief to families hit by the attack.
