Police in Delta State say they have rescued a woman abducted from the Amukpe area of Sapele Local Government Area.

The command said the woman was taken from her residence on Wednesday while trying to drive into her compound. The suspects reportedly fired shots before taking her into a nearby bush.

Police spokesman SP Bright Edafe said officers from the Sapele Police Division and local vigilantes began a search after a distress report. Expended AK-47 ammunition shells were recovered at the scene.

The command said the woman was rescued on Thursday. It said the suspects abandoned her and fled after the search team closed in on the area.

Police said a manhunt for the abductors was continuing and appealed to residents to give useful information to security agencies.
