Kaduna Police Recover Guns, Stolen Vehicles And Fake Dollars
Kaduna police say they have recovered firearms, two stolen vehicles and suspected counterfeit US dollar notes in separate operations across the state.
The state police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the command recovered 332 suspected counterfeit $100 notes, nine locally fabricated firearms, a pump-action rifle, two cartridges, a motorcycle and two vehicles.
One operation followed information that armed bandits were disturbing farmers around Kidandan in Giwa Local Government Area. Police personnel and members of the Kaduna Vigilance Service confronted the suspects, who fled into the bush after an exchange and abandoned a pump-action rifle, cartridges and a motorcycle.
In another operation around the Maraban Jos axis, police mounted roadblocks after receiving intelligence on suspected gunrunners. The command said some suspects abandoned nine locally fabricated firearms and escaped.
Three suspects were also arrested at Panteka, Kurmin Mashi, while allegedly trying to sell a stolen black GMK Jeep valued at about N70 million for N4 million after preparing it for dismantling. Daily Trust reported the suspects as Hashiru Ibrahim, Mohammed Ibrahim and Umar Hassan.
Police said another stolen Toyota Hilux was recovered after operatives arrested Mohammed Aliyu Abdullahi and found suspected counterfeit dollar notes in the vehicle.
