Police Arrest Four Over Alleged Truck Hijacking In Oyo
Police in Oyo State say four suspected members of a truck-hijacking syndicate have been arrested after an operation linked to alleged vehicle theft and diversion across Oyo and neighbouring Kwara State.
The command said the arrests followed intelligence that the group would operate on August 24. Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit were deployed along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where they intercepted a white SINO HOWO truck that had allegedly been stripped of its back body and was being moved towards the Ogbomoso-Ilorin axis.
Two suspects, identified in police accounts as Ojedokun Olakunle Isaac and Ajuwon Ismail, were first arrested. Police said Ojedokun, who was attached to the truck driver as a motor boy, confessed to helping plan the hijacking and gave information that led to the arrest of Adekunle Sunday and Rasheed.
The police said efforts were ongoing to recover the detached truck body and arrest other members of the alleged syndicate. The case remains under investigation.
