The Federal Government has begun rolling out electric vehicles and buses for civil servants, with the first batch now delivered under a wider plan to cut transport costs and support cleaner energy.

Punch reported that the National Automotive Design and Development Council said the first batch of electric vehicles had been delivered after a State House meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Daily Trust reported that 100 Renewed Hope Mass Transit electric buses were inaugurated for federal civil servants in Abuja, with 37 delivered as the first instalment.

The outgoing Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack, said the buses were meant to provide safer and more affordable transport for federal workers. The NADDC’s director-general, Joseph Osanipin, said the rollout was part of a plan to expand electric vehicle access and build the infrastructure needed to support alternative-energy transport.

The two reports describe the same government transport push, with one focusing on the vehicle-delivery announcement and the other on the bus inauguration for civil servants.
