Tinubu Flags Off Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road Reconstruction

President Bola Tinubu has flagged off the reconstruction and dualisation of the 58-kilometre Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road linking Oyo and Ogun states, while also approving the immediate reconstruction and dualisation of the Abeokuta-Ibadan Road.

The Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode corridor connects Ibadan, Ijebu-Ode and the Lekki economic axis. The Presidency said the work is part of a wider push to improve transport links across the South-West and ease movement for residents, traders and businesses that rely on the route.

Tinubu was represented at the flag-off in Ibadan by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun. The event took place at the open field of Legacy Estate, Idi-Ape, where federal and state officials described the road as a major economic route between Oyo, Ogun, Lagos and other parts of the region.

The Federal Government said the project would reduce travel stress, support commerce and address long-standing infrastructure gaps on a route used by commuters and transporters. The approval for the Abeokuta-Ibadan Road adds another major link to the road works now planned for the corridor.

Abiodun said the projects were important to both Ogun and Oyo because of the number of communities and economic activities tied to the roads. Officials at the event also framed the work as part of Tinubu’s wider infrastructure programme.
