Gunmen Kill Two Security Operatives, Seize Rifles In Plateau
Two security operatives were reportedly killed after gunmen attacked Tanjol and Tarai communities in Jol District, Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack happened around 2:30pm on Sunday. Residents cited in the reports said security personnel responded to the incident but met resistance from the gunmen, leading to a gun battle that lasted several minutes.
The attackers reportedly seized the firearms of the slain personnel before leaving the area. The reports said the incident raised fresh concern in Riyom, one of the Plateau communities repeatedly hit by armed attacks.
Premium Times carried the incident with Plateau State context, while Punch published the direct account from residents and local security sources. Both reports identified the same Riyom communities and the same reported loss of two security operatives and rifles.
Security authorities had not announced arrests in the reports at the time of publication.
