Seven men have died and two others were injured in a multiple crash on the Ibafo section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

The crash happened around 12:03am on Monday at Kara, Ibafo. Reports said the vehicles involved were a white HOWO CNG/CIMC Enric truck, a white Mack trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA.

The Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps confirmed the casualties. Daily Post named the command’s spokesperson as Afolabi Odunsi, while Channels TV reported that the confirmation came in a statement from the state sector command in Abeokuta.

The injured victims were taken for treatment, while the bodies of the dead were deposited at a morgue. The incident adds to recurring safety concerns on the Lagos-Ibadan corridor, one of the country’s busiest roads.

The FRSC has repeatedly urged drivers on the route to avoid speeding, fatigue and unsafe overtaking, especially around sections where heavy-duty vehicles move close to smaller commercial vehicles.
