NSCDC Arrests Three Over Alleged N7m Internet Fraud In Edo

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps says it has arrested three suspected internet fraudsters in Edo State over an alleged N7 million scam involving a Nigerian resident in Italy.

The Edo command identified the suspects as Peter Odion, 21, Anthony Ernest, 20, and Destiny Saturday, 20. It said all three are from Ebele in Igueben Local Government Area.

Commandant Akintayo Saidi Ayinla said the suspects allegedly contacted the victim on Facebook using a female photograph. The command said one of the suspects later posed as a female native doctor and claimed he could help the victim become rich through spiritual means.

The victim allegedly made several payments before realising he had been defrauded. The command said a lawyer petitioned the NSCDC on the victim’s behalf, after which operatives traced and arrested the suspects through intelligence work.

The corps said the suspects had confessed and would be charged to court after investigation. The allegations remain subject to court proceedings.
